ABOUT THE ARTIST
Lena Alani is a dynamic contemporary circus performer and aerialist with over 12 years of experience on stage specializing in vertical apparatus, including aerial rope, silks, sling, and straps. Known for captivating performances that seamlessly blend strength and grace, Lena’s artistry transforms the aerial space into a realm of emotion and storytelling. Lena’s artistic journey is fueled by a belief in the transformative power of performance. Her work aims to evoke emotions and connect with audiences on a deep level, inviting them to experience the beauty and intensity of aerial artistry.
Born and raised in Russia, a cultural hub celebrated for its exceptional dancers and gymnasts, Lena cultivated a deep passion for movement, dance and physical theatre from an early age. This rich foundation informs her unique aerial style, characterized by powerful, dynamic choreography complemented by fluid, graceful transitions.
Lena's professional aerial career began in 2012 with Paper Doll Militia, an innovative aerial performance company, that blends dynamic physicality, aerial arts and visual theatre. She has been part of many PDM's original shows and pieces that have toured in the US.
In 2023 Lena’s lifelong dream of performing with
Cirque Du Soleil came to fruition when she joined the cast of The Beatles LOVE. In this iconic production, she showcased her talent, captivating thousands of people every night.
With the recent closure of the show, Lena is now seeking new opportunities to continue her journey in the world of performance. She is eager to share her passion for aerial arts and explore fresh creative avenues that challenge and inspire her as an artist.
Highly motivated and passionate about aerial arts and dance, Lena loves sharing her extensive knowledge with students. She has taught workshops, private lessons and retreats (Paper Doll Militia Retreats) in circus facilities across the world for 11 years. She specializes in coaching various levels of vertical apparatus. She also coaches remotely for Paper Doll Militia's Teacher Training Programs.
